Stencils Can Give Old Furniture A New Look!
Good morning, my DIY friends. Take a good look around and tell us if your furniture is looking tired and old? The good news is that no matter what your skill level is, you can complete a furniture makeover project. The better news is that Cutting Edge Stencils is here to help! Transforming old furniture into something fresh is super easy with a stencil. Today we’re going to share two furniture makeover projects that are sure to inspire.
We’d like to introduce to you Helen, the clever crafter behind the blog Rick Rack Scissors. Helen scored an amazing deal on a mid-century modern dining room table and she was super excited to replace her old table. Rather than toss the old table, she decided to use it as a craft table for the kids. They left it in the kitchen so even though it wasn’t functioning as a dining table, it was a very visible craft space. You could see the art table was well loved from the paint splashes and nicks. Helen decided to give it a fresh look and went on Pinterest for inspiration. She was inspired by the Paisley stenciled table on Domestic Imperfection. The first thing she did was sand off the old finish. Then she applied her stain over our Paisley Allover pattern using a cloth. Once the tabletop was stenciled, she applied a polyacrylic sealer and painted the legs a lovely shade of aqua. Helen had this to say about her project, “Quite an improvement I’d say!!” We totally agree. We love the look of her new art table.
Next up we’d like you to meet Frankie, the interior decorator and DIYer behind the blog The Brushed Bureau. Frankie purchased a vintage chest from an online auction but when she got the piece she realized it had many imperfections. She decided to freshen it up with a stencil. Frankie bought the Zamira Allover Stencil because she said she “loves the Moroccan style of this lattice design.” Then she used painters tape to hold the stencil in place and painted the pattern in white over the gray background. Frankie said, “I am pleased with the finished piece…. nice decorative storage addition to our dining room! I was able to achieve a beautiful updated chest and hide a few flaws too!” That’s awesome.
