Furniture Stencils Add Custom Painted Touches
Stencils And Paint Can Instantly Refresh Old Furniture
Good morning, my DIY friends. Cutting Edge Stencils loves how such simple items like paint, pattern, and some decorative knobs can easily transform an old piece of furniture. Today we have two stenciled furniture makeovers that are sure to inspire you! Let's take a look...
We'd like to introduce Amy, one of the creative DIYers behind the blog Canary Street Crafts. Amy admits to loving "Fun knobs, pretty paper lined drawers, and of course painted graphics." And what is one of the easiest way to paint a pretty pattern on a piece of furniture? A stencil, of course. Her self-declared obsession for stenciling is no surprise to us. Amy stumbled upon a pair of tables at a local thrift shop and despite their particle board construction, she saw some possibilities. The first thing she did was coat the tables in Zinsser Shellac. Then she painted them using Annie Sloan chalk paint. She used a Coco color on the legs and Old White on the top. Once the tables were painted, Amy was ready for the fun part. She chose to paint the French Poem Allover Stencil in Annie Sloan Coco. Amy used painter's tape to hold the stencil in place and a stencil brush to paint on the script pattern. After the stencil was dry, she gave the tables a coat of clear wax for protection. We love the look of her newly stenciled table.
