Craft Projects Using Stencil Designs That Are Super Easy
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! One of the great things about our stencil patterns is that they are reusable. This means rather than having to toss them away after one use, you can continue to craft until your DIY heart is content! Today we’re sharing TWO simple and craft-tastic projects using ONE stencil pattern! Come check it out…
We’d like you to meet Cindy, the creative DIYer and Hometalk contributer. Cindy says, “I love DIY anything – home improvement, furniture refinishing, and crafts. I love transforming something old, past its prime into something new and great!” So we put her up to a stencil challenge. We sent her the LOVE Craft Stencil in a small and let her DIY imagination run wild. Here are a couple of projects using the Love Stencil design.
Love Stenciled Stool
Cindy had a little bench in her storage shed. It was old and worn with wooden legs and a plastic seat cover. She decided with her LOVE stencil in hand that it was the perfect time to give it a makeover. She explains in her Hometalk post how she removes the bench top, reupholstered with burlap, and painted the wooden legs. We’re going to focus on the stenciling part! Cindy placed the LOVE craft pattern on top of the burlap. She used blue painter’s tape to hold the stencil in place and painted the pattern in red using a stencil brush. After the red was painted, Cindy gave the stencil lettering a coat of metallic gold paint. When it was complete, she lifted the stencil off to reveal the pretty design. She had this to say about her project, “I am very happy with the results – it is now a fun bench!”
LOVE Stenciled Wood Art
Once Cindy completed her first project, she rinsed off her reusable stencil for another DIY project. She loved the heartfelt stencil message and thought it would be perfect for a wooden sign to display at her daughter’s wedding. She purchased pine board from Walmart. She painted the board with white chalk paint and then sanded it smooth. The she used blue painter’s tape to hold her LOVE stencil pattern in place on the board. Cindy painted the pattern in Martha Stewart’s metallic gold using a stencil brush. Then she lifted the stencil to reveal her custom work of art! Cindy said, “The sign is complete and was so easy to do!” Until her daughter’s wedding, this pretty little piece is decorating her Christmas mantle.
