Stencils Give Old Furniture A Fresh Face
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! No matter your skill level, you can complete a furniture makeover using our furniture stencils. All it takes is a little bit of creative thinking, paint, and a stencil to help uncover the hidden charm of a cast-off piece. Today we’re going to visit Anam, the creative DIYer behind the blog Delicious and DIY. In a few simple steps, she manages to put a fresh face on her curbside treasures. Come be inspired by her jaw-dropping furniture updates.
Indian Inlay Stenciled Dresser
Anam inherrited her grandmother’s dressing table. It was a beautiful piece of wooden furniture with character and detail. While her grandmother had kept it in tip top shape, the piece appeared dated and didn’t work with Anam’s decor. The first thing she did was paint the dresser teal. Then she chose to add a bone inlay pattern using our Indian Inlay Stencil kit. Anam used painter’s tape to hold the stencil in place and painted the pattern in white using a stencil brush. Once the stencil was dry, she repainted the old knobs in gold and placed them back on the dresser. For the step by step details of her project, please check out her blog post. Here is her dresser makeover!
African Kuba Stenciled Nightstand
Anam bought a simple wooden nightstand (part of the Tarva series) from Ikea. It was drab and dreary until she placed her DIY hands on it. First she painted it a beautiful shade of emerald green using Baroque by Velvet Finishes. After painting two coats of the eye-catching hue, Anam was ready to kick it up a notch. She browsed our online stencil collection and fell in love with the African Kuba Craft Stencil. She used painter’s tape to hold the stencil in place and painted the pattern using a stencil brush in Liquid Gold Gilding. After the paint was dry, she added gold accents and beautiful leaf shaped knobs which she got from D Lawless Hardware. Anam commented, ” I am in LOVE with how it turned out!”
