Stenciling Beautiful Gift Wrap In Four Easy Steps

Good morning, my DIY crafters! Just yesterday, Cutting Edge Stencils was dreaming up all the ways our holiday-themed stencils could be used. One of our absolute favorites was the stenciled gift wrap idea. He,y it is the gift-giving season, and since you put your heart into picking out the perfect gift, we feel it should be wrapped in something special. We just happen to believe that the something special should be stenciled gift wrap! Take a look at these cuties and see if you agree...

We spotted this absolutely stunning brocade stenciled gift wrap on Sophia's Decor, and it was l.o.v.e. at first sight! For years, Kristen has wrapped presents in brown and white Kraft paper and dressed them up with satin bows, raffia, burlap, tiny pine cones, and ornaments. Then her stenciling light bulb went off and she decided to dress them up a bit more using a painted stencil. She instantly glammed up her tree with designer looking paper. To get this look, use our Brocade No.1 Stencil and FolkArt acrylic craft paint in gold. So pretty!

A fun zippy stripe is the perfect way to dress up your package. Take the lead from Create Loves, who crafted this adorable gift wrap using a pattern similar to our Chevron Craft Stencil. We love it!

Now that you see how gorgeous stenciled gift wrap can look, we're going to show you how easy it is to create! We'd like to welcome back Amy, the DIY superstar and blogger behind WhisperWood Cottage. Amy decided that with the holiday season upon us, she would create her own special DIY wrapping paper! Here is the scoop on how to stencil gift wrap (this project comes from WhisperWood Cottage):

First you're gonna need this stuff listed below:

• Kraft paper roll
• A stencil (for this project the Silence Wall Pattern was used)
• Dense Foam 4? Roller with Handle <--- We prefer the one in this link.
• Painter's tape
• Small paint tray or plastic plate
• Paper towels
• Craft paint found at Michaels or JoAnns ( for this project DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint in Hauser Medium Green, DecoArt Stencil Paint in Light Green, and DecoArt Glamor Dust in Ice Crystal was used)

1. Gather Materials: Start the stencil project by gathering all of the materials listed above. 2. Secure The Stencil: Roll out the kraft paper on a smooth surface like a dining room table. Then position the stencil design on the kraft paper. You can secure the stencil in place using painter's tape (if necessary). 3. Start Stenciling: Pour your craft paint onto a plate or paint tray. Then lightly coat your dense foam roller with paint. Roll off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Next paint the stencil design on the kraft paper. For this project, Amy used three types of DecoArt craft paint to create her custom green trees. She used DecoArt Americana Acrylic Paint in Hauser Medium Green, DecoArt Stencil Paint in Light Green, and DecoArt Glamor Dust in Ice Crystal. Since this stencil design comes with three different tree sizes, Amy painted the largest tree in the light green. The she painted the medium sized tree in the medium green. For the third tree she mixed the Glamour Dust with a touch of the light green paint. 4. Complete the Pattern: Allow the paint to dry a little and reposition the stencil so you can continue to paint the pattern on the entire surface. Once it's dry, you are ready to wrap!
