stencil savvy home decorators. Are you holding your eyes open with toothpicks, sloshing back a second or third cup of coffee thinking geez I wish I wasn't in the office today? Well turn that dreary frown upside down because today's stencil story is about to infuse you with stencil engery!

crafty DIY enthusiast. Aimee is the mastermind behind the blog
It's Overflowing. She's a gal who is always on a quest to make her space more beautiful which includes her home office. Aimee's home office was a small space that was located in the family room. She decided to create a very subtle room divide between the two spaces using the
Houndstooth Allover Pattern.
On her blog, Aimee walks her readers through her stenciling project with tiny tidbits she learned along the way. The first thing she mentions is that she used the
Clip-On Stencil Level which is shown below. Aimee says “I attached the level to the bottom of my stencil, it slides right on.” We have to agree, it's a very easy tool to use and it makes the stencil project a whole lot easier. Aimee continued to reposition her stencil until her entire area was complete. To get that clean border she placed some painters tape around the houndstooth pattern.
IT'S PERTEY!!! Now I promised a stencil pick me up and I think I delivered! You saw what a bore those plain white walls were before. Using the Houndstooth Stencil, Aimee managed to transform her home office area and give it the ultimate WOW factor!
And this is the perfect color combination for this type of project. Remember this is a nook within a larger space so the color and stencil pattern should be subtle so it doesn't look out of place. The sophisticated gray and cream stencil design is not only trendy but it's also a timeless color combination. To get this look consider using Benjamin Moore’s
thunder AF-685 and
horizon 1478. As Aimee said "Way more fun, don’t you think?" Oh Yeah! This new home office is gorgeous!
PS. We're loving her
desk organizing ideas. The jars add some visual appeal while keeping pens neat and the soft blue note organizer adds a fun pop of color! Aimee says, "A pretty space helps me continue to be inspired!"
