Floor Patterns Are An Inspiring Way To Perk Up A Concrete Floor
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! An old concrete bathroom floor can be drab and dull. When a full bathroom makeover is not feasible, adding a floor stencil is an easy and affordable way to perk up the space! Today we’re going to share with you a master bathroom makeover that was enhanced with a stencil pattern. Come take a look…
We’d like to welcome back Cheryl, the interior designer and creative DIYer behind the blog Dwell by Cheryl. About a year ago, Cheryl had given her master bedroom a makeover. Ever since she wrapped up that project she has been wanting to spruce up the master bath. Here is what it looked like:
Cheryl had grown tired of the pink hue and the linoleum flooring had started to peel. Otherwise there wasn’t anything in particularly wrong with the space. Cheryl decided to remove the flooring and paint the concrete flooring that was underneath. She used Valspar Latex Porch and Floor paint in dark gray.
Cheryl loved the look of patterned tile but it was out of the question because her budget for this makeover was very limited. To get a similar look, she decided to use a floor stencil. Cheryl browsed our large collection of floor stencils and selected our Stephanie’s Lace Allover Stencil. This beautiful lace stencil for walls and floors is intricate yet easy to use. Cheryl commented, “I love the look of lace tile. Something about it has a vintage appeal.”
With her stencil in hand, Cheryl was ready to start stenciling! She painted the lace-inspired pattern in white. She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dense foam roller to paint the pattern. Our stencil essentials kit contains all of the supplies needed to complete a project like this one. Here she is working through the process.
After each section was complete, Cheryl would un-tape the stencil and reposition so she could paint the entire floor. Once the stencil was complete, Cheryl coated the floor with a glossy concrete sealant. Are you ready to see how this all turned out?
Cheryl completed the space with a fresh coat of paint and special decorating touches. To see her full craft room reveal, please check out her blog Dwell by Cheryl.
Cheryl had this to say, “It’s been a long time coming, but I love the end result. Totally worth it!”
