Bring a Smile to your Child with Stencils
Over the years we have seen so many beautiful stenciled nursery rooms and it goes to show how many parents go the extra mile to bring a smile to their kid’s face. We often get calls from parents who are in a rush to get their stencil so that they can surprise their son or daughter with a stenciled accent wall. Frequently there is a follow up call because a sibling caught a glimpse of their brother or sister’s room and wants the same for themselves. It is no surprise that kids love having stencils as part of their room decor just as much as adults do. If you are a parent, it is a great gift to provide your child with a room that they enjoy being in and are proud to invite their friends into. Cutting Edge Stencils has a great variety of stencils that can be used for both adult and nursery/kids rooms alike. We are so pleased to share with you some really beautiful and inspring stenciled rooms. Enjoy!
Rabat Allover Stencil
Emily posted her adorable stenciled nursery room on the Project Nursery website and it was selected as a January Project of the Month finalist! This is a great example of a stencil that is not necessarily categorized as “nursery” but with the right colors looks absolutely adorable for this baby girls room. The turquoise accents add the perfect punch of color and their geometric shape goes wonderfully with the Rabat Small Scale stencil on the walls. A good tip is if you can’t find mirror frames in the right color, just find the paint color you like and paint over the color that is on the frame, voila! Another good tip for a nursery stenciled wall is to really try to visualize how your color choices will affect the way a stencil pattern comes across.
Spring Songbirds Stencil Dresser
This stenciled table is so uplifting and charming. If you don’t want to go for a wall stencil, accent an old piece of furniture with a stencil instead. Furniture up-do’s are such great DIY projects and can save you a lot of money. You can also really customize the colors and stencil to match the theme and look of your nursery room perfectly. This dresser was painted and stenciled by Rusty Pearls. As you can see a brown glaze was applied to the piece when the Spring Songbirds stencil was finished to give it a slightly more antique look. Are you inspired yet?
Tree and Branch Stencils
Anything nature themed is great for small children. We offer a number of tree and branch stencils so that your child can feel like they are living in the middle of a magical forest and can be surrounded by nature inspired decor. Above we have the Large Tree and Birds stencil on the left and the Spring Songbirds on the right. You can keep it simple by blocking your colors and keeping each element a solid color as with the Large Tree and Birds. Or, to add a little bit of dimension you can add some lighter leaves in the background and do a little bit of shading with multiple colors as with the Spring Songbirds on the right (check out this video tutorial on how to use a stencil brush to shade for more detail) Either look is very sweet and will surely be loved by any child.
Flower Stencils
Our Zinnia flower stencil has been one of the most popular for nursery rooms as well as pretty much all rooms in a home. It has such a fun round shape and really brings a happy vibe to any space. You can choose one size and randomly apply the stencil throughout the walls in your room or pick a couple of varying sizes and experiment with overlapping sizes and colors. Above we used the Zinnia Medium and Small and overlapped them in some spots. To get the same look use Benjamin Moore Hawthorne Yellow HC-4 as your background color, Benjamin Moore Lemon Ice 2024-70 for the white Zinnias and Benjamin Moore York Harbor Yellow 2154-40 for the dark gold small Zinnias.
Simple Rhyme Nursery Stencil
This baby girl’s room stenciled by Gabriella is so adorable! Don’t you love the combination of pink and the soft teal background? Gabriella used Cutting Edge Stencils’ Simple Rhyme allover pattern and the feminine heart shaped curls in the design are really nice for a little girl. Once again, we see the use of geometric shaped mirrors as accents on the stenciled wall. Adding the pink ribbon to hang the mirrors just shows the great attention to detail Gabriella had while putting her daughters room together. Gabriella used Drizzle by Sherwin Williams and Modern Masters Silver (look for Modern Masters at your local Benjamin Moore location) for the stencil.
Polka Dot Stencil Furniture Redo
Yet another awesome stenciled piece of furniture! This was done by furniture up-do extraordinaire Greer Clayton who has used a number of Cutting Edge Stencils on her truly inspiring pieces. Polka dots are all over the fashion and home decor world right now and I love it. They are so simple yet very fun and versatile. Greer used Cutting Edge Stencils Polka Dot allover stencil.
Allium Twins Stencil
Kathryn had such a great idea when using her Allium Twins stencil. She really tied in her two different colored walls so nicely by having her stencil carry from one wall into the next. This is a great way to accent a corner in your room. To get the varying heights of the Allium Stencil stem simply either start your stencil lower down on the wall or have the blossom higher up and then re-place the stem to continue it to the base of the wall. It’s that simple!
Moroccan Dream Stenciled Accent Wall
I just love the colors used in this nursery room. The purple and white theme is lovely. Birchtree Photography blog posted this nursery room wall stenciled with the Moroccan Dream Allover stencil. Mary really had an eye for detail adding adorable horse accents pieces to the walls and on top of the shelf. Since her feature wall did not have any obstructions (she added the shelf after stenciling the wall) it was ideal for a fast and hassle free stencil project. To get a similar look, use Benjamin Moore Lily Lavender as your background color and Benjamin Moore Sea Foam as the stencil color.
Dandelion Stencil
I think this nursery room is a great example of how even muted gray and white work so well in a babies room. The Dandelion stencil and warm gray combination will be age appropriate for years to come. You can purchase the Dandelion in multiple sizes for varying heights and flower width and cluster them to accent certain parts of your child room. To get a similar look as Mary’s adorable room, use Benjamin Moore Stone Harbor as the background color and Benjamin Moore Mountain Peak White for the stencil color.
7 Stars stencil kit
If you are having a baby boy there are plenty of stencil options to choose from. Using the 7 Stars stencil kit is a really fast and easy project to make a big difference in a little boys room. It can take less than an hour to get the look in the photo above but will give your baby boy years of color and fun to look at. To get the look above, simply pick out a number of colors that match your room decor and mix and match them with your star stencils.
Mermaid Allover Stencil
Another great look for a boy or a girl is the Mermaid allover stencil in light blue. The red room decor highlights compliment the blue color of the walls wonderfully. Fresh Quince Interiors blog flipped the design around which looks great!
My New Digs
Even though I already included a photo of a nursery with the Rabat allover stencil, I just had to include these photos from Finding My Feet blog. If you ever doubt whether it was worth the effort to redo your kids room, just take a look at these ecstatic kids and you’ll get the motivation. Love it!
