Mandala Stencils Can Freshen Up A Dated Side Table
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Stretch your decorating budget by giving a tired table a fresh coat of paint and a pretty stencil pattern. In just a few steps you can have a like-new table just by painting a stencil. Today we’re sharing how one DIY blogger used the Gratitude Mandala Pattern to add style to an old side table. Come be inspired…
We’d like to introduce Cheryl, the talented artist and blogger behind Rel Belle’s Reloved. If you follow Cheryl’s blog then you are well aware that she loves to give old furniture and décor new life so that it can be reloved once again. Cheryl had stumbled upon this lovely wooden side table at a thrift store. It was dark and dated but it had an interesting shape. Here is what it looked like after she refinished it.
The first thing Cheryl did was clean the table using Rethunk Junk Prep. This cleaning spray helps get ride of the dirt and grime so the paint can adhere better. Then she gave it two coats of Rethunk Junk Paint in Blue Lace, a pretty blue-gray hue. The fresh coat of paint already made such a big difference on the two-tiered end table. To further enhance its character, she decided stenciling was the way to go. Our stencil patterns are the perfect way to add a splash of personality to an old side table.
With her Mandala pattern in hand, Cheryl was ready for the fun part. She placed the stencil on top of the table and used blue painter’s tape to hold it in place.
Then she used a stencil brush to paint the Mandala pattern. She dipped the stencil brush into paint (Rethunk Junk Paint in Linen White) and then painted the design.
If you are recreating the project at home, be sure to brush off excess paint. Too much paint on your stencil brush will cause the design to bleed.
Once it was all painted, Cheryl lifted the stencil to reveal her painted Mandala design.
Are you ready to see how her creative project turned out? Here is her stenciled side table.
Cheryl had this to say about her stencil project, “Yes, yes, yes! Oh this Mandala Stencil from @cuttingedgestencils is too awesome!” We absolutely love this project!
