Paint-A-Pillow Shares DIY Accent Pillows Using the Arrow Stencils
Happy Friday, my craft friends. Do you plan on crafting this weekend? If you’re looking for an easy craft idea that will add a little wow factor to your home decor and have your friends talking about your incredible style then Cutting Edge Stencils has the perfect project for you! Paint-A-Pillow is an innovative stenciling kit that will allow you to create designer accent pillows in a snap. Come see how one of our favorite craft bloggers used this creative pillow kit.
We’d like to welcome back Ashley, the creative mastermind behind the blog Domestic Imperfection. We teamed up with Ashley several years ago and have fallen in love with each of her stencil projects. When we offered her a chance to try Paint-A-Pillow, she thought it sounded like fun and would be perfect for the reading tent she’s building for her boys. Ashley ordered the Drifting Arrows Paint-A-Pillow kit with a white pillow cover, the Tribal Arrows Paint-A-Pillow kit, and Jacquard Paint in navy blue and emerald green. First, we’ll give you a quick glimpse of her pretty stenciled accent pillow and then we’ll fill you in on the details.
A trendy pattern and a fab color combination, we love it!
Ashley was excited when her Paint-A-Pillow kit was delivered. She comments, “Inside, arranged neatly, is everything you need to make your pillow…it even has your chosen stencil already secured over the pillowcase, which is pulled tight over a cardboard insert.”
After reading through the simple instructions that were included in the kit, she was ready to start painting. For this project, Ashley chose to paint the arrow design in emerald green with a dense foam roller.
** If you’re recreating this at home, be careful not to overload the roller with paint. Roll off the excess paint onto a folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge.
Once the entire pillow cover was painted, she peeled back the metal tabs holding the stencil in place to reveal her painted pillow!
Be sure to clean the stencil off in a sink so that it can be used again for another project.
When the pillow cover was dry, Ashley heat set it so that it’s washable.
And there you have it! That’s how she created this super stylish accent pillow.
