Cutting Edge Stencils’ Presents Crafty Ideas Using the Herringbone Stencil To Create DIY Home Decor
Good Morning my stencil loving, trendsetters! Hopefully where you are the sun is shining and you’re feeling bright and chipper today. After all today is full of potential and positivity, right? If not, then keep on reading to get your daily dose of motivational stencil inspiration! Today, Cutting Edge Stencils is going to show you how to use our new Herringbone Stencil to add that trendy sloped stripe that’s been spotted everywhere to your home interior! Zig Zag designs can be so much fun and look absolutely fabulous. The best part is that you don’t have to just use them on the wall. It’s a great way to a playful pattern to your home decor.
Herringbone is one of those classic patterns that looks equally good in a modern space or a home full of antiques. It can be played up by using bold, high contrasting colors or simplified using more subtle hues. This interlocking zig-zag design can be stenciled on almost anything you have in your home: wall arts, furniture, even textiles. Recently our crafty friend, Whitney, the blogger behind A Mommy’s Life with a Touch of Yellow took the creative plunge using the Herringbone stencil. Let’s take a look at what she has in store for us!
Herringbone Wall Art
Whitney is a renter but she’s not letting that stop her from decorating her home with the latest pattern trends. Her latest project has been updating the look in her Master Bedroom. She wanted to add some perfect pops of patterned fun but since she’s renter she didn’t want to actually paint the wall. The solution? Our Herringbone Stencil comes to the rescue! Whitney and her husband created this over-sized canvas to stencil. Here’s what she had to say about her stencil adventure, “Fun , Easy, fast and beautiful! I love love love how I am going to be able to take this with me when we move since it isn’t permanent. Yes, renters this is the project for you, if you want that stenciled look in your space.” Oh yeah, and Whitney is currently hosting a stencil giveaway on her blog so go enter!
Herringbone Door Mat
Once the stencil was in hand there was no stopping her! Whitney had bought a plain $4.99 SINDAL Door mat from Ikea. She knew the moment she saw this it was the perfect item to stencil! Using the Herringbone Stencil, some pretty sea glass green paint, and her feet are thanking her every time they step on this! Whitney says this project was, “Easy Peasy! It seriously took me like 15 minutes I think.” Read all about the door mat transformation over here. We love the patterned pop of color she added to her entryway, don’t you?!
But Wait There’s More…
We are just feeling stripe-tastic today! Before we let you run off to start stenciling your Herringbone home decor, here are two blasts from our stencil pasts.
Remember this gorgeous Herringbone stenciled bookcase that was done by Lolly Jane? The bright yellow and white sloped stripes give this piece eye-catching appeal!
Our friends at Clean and Scentsible took a more subtle approach pairing the oh-so-popular color gray with the trendy Herringbone Stencil. Instant way to glam up an old coffee table!
