Wall Stencils Can Help Craft A DIY Bone Inlay Mirror
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. If you’ve been daydreaming about owning your own beautiful bone inlay piece of furniture then we have the perfect DIY project for you. Stenciling a mirror frames is super simple and yet it can have a huge impact on the space. Today we’re sharing a DIY bone inlay mirror that was created using our Indian Inlay Stencil Kit from the Kim Myles Global Glam Stencil Collection.
We’d like to introduce you to Emy, the creative DIYer behind the blog Semigloss Design. Emy participates in a monthly blogger challenge where they take inspiration from a popular designer or icon. For this particular month, the group was inspired by designer Genevieve Gorder. This well-known designer tends to have a sophisticated, global influence and leans towards black and white color combinations. Emy accepted the monthly challenge and decided to give her two farmhouse mirrors a makeover. She had recently painted her living room and felt the framed mirrors didn’t quite fit the space. Here is what they looked like before the makeover.
These gorgeous farmhouse mirrors were handcrafted by Emy. She decided to give them a stenciled makeover using our Indian Inlay Stencil Kit. This pretty furniture stencil is perfect for a sophisticated project like this.
Emy painted the mirror frame black.
Then she was ready for the fun part, stenciling! Emy used the Indian Inlay Stencil Kit to recreate a bone inlay look on the frame. She carefully taped the stencil down using blue painter’s tape and painted the pattern in white using a stencil brush.
Emy made sure she brushed off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. After each section was painted, she would carefully remove the stencil and reposition so she could finish the design.
Are you ready to see how her project turned out? Here are Emy’s DIY bone inlay stenciled mirrors.
Emy commented, “I’m thrilled with how the mirrors turned out! Aren’t they pretty?” We totally agree that her project was a huge success.
Be sure to follow her blog, Semigloss Design, and check out all her awesome DIY projects.
