Flower Stencils Can Freshen Up Dull Furniture
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Rather than toss your dull and dated furniture to the curb, consider using a pretty stencil pattern and a fresh coat of paint to give it a whole new look! All it takes is a trendy stencil design to give an old piece of furniture a like-new look. Today we’re sharing how one DIY blogger used the Summer Blossom Flower Design to add style to an old wooden table. Come be inspired…
We’d like to introduce Cheryl, the talented artist and blogger behind Rel Belle’s Reloved. If you follow Cheryl’s blog then you are well aware that she loves to give old furniture and décor new life so that it can be reloved once again. Cheryl found this lovely little wooden side table at a thrift store. Here is what the dark and dull table looked like after she refinished it.
The first thing Cheryl did was clean the table using Rethunk Junk Prep. This cleaning spray helps get ride of the dirt and grime so the paint can adhere better. Then she gave it two coats of Dixie Belle plum crazy, the prettiest pink hue. To further enhance the character of this small side table, Cheryl decided stenciling was the way to go. Our stencil patterns are the perfect way to add a splash of personality to old furniture.
She browsed our large collection of flower stencil patterns and fell in love with our Summer Blossom Flower Stencil. This pretty pattern is sure to make a statement on any piece of furniture!
With her Summer Blossom Flower Stencil in hand, Cheryl was ready for the fun part. She placed the stencil on top of the pink painted table and used blue painter’s tape to hold it in place.
Then she used a stencil brush to paint the flower pattern. Cheryl said, “I thought the flower stencil would be perfect to try different colors, so I used Rethunk Tea Rose (pink) for the middle, then Rethunk Vintage Coral, and then Rethunk Cherry Blossom around the outer edges. I absolutely love the different colors!”
If you are recreating the project at home, be sure to brush off excess paint. Too much paint on your stencil brush will cause the design to bleed.
Once it was all painted, Cheryl lifted the stencil to reveal her painted Summer Blossom design.
Are you ready to see how her sweet furniture makeover turned out? Here is her pretty pink side table complete with a stenciled flower.
Cheryl had this to say about her stencil project, “Just in time for the first day of spring. Look at this lil cutie that will be perfect for showcasing spring blooms. ” We absolutely love this project!
