Great choice for someone new to stenciling
"We used this for a floor, and then also for the coffee tables in the same room, which gave us a very custom look. I had only stenciled once before, a small border in a bedroom, so I was nervous about whether I could paint an entire floor to my liking (I am a bit of a perfectionist). This stencil has a pattern that is very forgiving, being somewhat irregular to suggest an aged paint that has worn away in places. This means if you are less than perfect in your technique it will be less noticeable than with many other stencils. I applied with a 4" foam roller. Also, the fact that this pattern has a lot of 'negative space' (that is, areas where there is only base color, and no stencil paint), you avoid the most difficult parts - corners and edges. I didn't have to roll or fold the stencil up against the wall, instead stopping on full circles just as I was meeting the wall. It took me a day and a half for just the stenciling, so you need to take your time, and cleaning the stencils is not much fun (I could stencil for about 2 hours before my lovely assistant-wife spent about 45 minutes with latex paint remover and a soft scrubbing brush to remove the paint build-up). Well worth it, and it is very satisfying to have a one-of-a-kind custom floor, instead of buying laminate or carpeting. You can do it too!!! Stick with Cutting Edge. You may see other options on Etsy, Amazon and elsewhere, but the quality of those stencils are quite variable (as we learned, the hard way)."
