I have thought of doing this in a medium size bedroom where I have a super heavy desk and a sewing center. My fear is not having it last, of it getting scratched. Please disabuse me of this idea.
I can’t speak to how it will hold up over time, but so far, so good. We did put sheets under the heavier pieces of furniture to keep them from scratching the brand-new paint job when we loaded everything back into the finished room. That worked really well to make moving heavy items much easier since we could just slide them, and the sheets protected the floor. And so far, no scratches from anything else, including two large dogs who hang out in this room.
Hi Rosie,
Sorry! We did not see this message! We have people who stencil floors all the time and have yet to hear of anyone mentioning that the stencil paint came up! We always recommend sealing the floor so there is a protective layer above the paint to give it a little more protection!
I don’t personally have any experience with sealing floors, and everyone we speak to uses something different and has a different technique. So I always recommend going to your local hardware store and mentioning to them what you intend do to and see what they recommend. There are some great sealers out there, so you should not have an issue!
Hope this helps!
