Stencils Can Easily Create Home Decor Projects

Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils fans. We are kicking off the week on a high note with two awesome stencil projects and a stencil giveaway!  Stencils are a great way to personalize any space, by accenting your walls, home decor, crafts or furniture.  These projects can are simple, stylish and super inexpensive! Come check out our two home decor projects.

We’d like to introduce Kim, the creative DIYer behind the blog Made in a Day. Kim admits to having her eye on a recent home decor trend, the one featuring hand-drawn art.  So when she stumbled upon our extensive stencil collection, it was love at first sight.  Kim knew that by using our stencils she would be able to make some cute accents for her home.  She selected the Owls and Arrows Allover Stencil, a pattern that combines two of the trendiest designs.  Using this one stencil, Kim was able to create two home decor projects.

Stenciled Owl Pillow Cover

For her first project, Kim had an 18 inch plain pillow cover that needed some personalization. She ironed the pillow cover and then placed the Owls and Arrows Allover Stencil on top.  Kim used two small pieces of painters tape to hold the stencil in place as well as a cardboard insert to catch any paint bleed from decorating her pillow.  Rather than paint the pattern with a roller or brush, Kim chose to use Tulip fabric markers for a hand-drawn look.  She used a black marker to fill in the owl pattern on the pillow.  Once it was complete Kim commented, “Super cute and looks hand drawn and store bought!”  We think it’s adorable!

Stenciled Arrow Wall Art

For her next project, Kim used the same Owls and Arrows Allover Stencil to create a piece of simple yet gorgeous wall art.  Kim placed the arrow stencils on a piece of drawing paper and held it in place using a piece of masking tape.  Then she filled in the arrow pattern using a gold metallic fine tip paint pen.  She placed the stenciled piece of drawing paper into a frame and wahla! She has this to say about her project, “So pretty and again it looks like you bought it at a store! Love it!”
