DIY Accent Pillows Using the Drifting Arrows Paint-A-Pillow Kit
Good morning, my crafty friends. Are you looking to inject a little life into your current decor? Cutting Edge Stencils finds the easiest way to add pattern and personality into your decor is with accent pillows. And that’s one of the reasons we love our sister company, Paint-A-Pillow. They make it easy to customize your accent pillows so you can get the color you want in the pattern you love. Come check out the latest pillow project featuring our popular Drifting Arrows pattern.
We’d like to introduce A Sparkle of Genius. Courtney and her crew are always searching for clever craft products that their mama friends will enjoy. So when we offered her a chance to try a Paint-A-Pillow kit, she jumped at it. Courtney loves the decorating process and finds pulling together the little decor details to be so much fun. She notes, “One of the easiest ways to inject style and color is through fabrics in pillows.” Can’t argue with that! Courtney browsed the site and chose the Drifting Arrows Paint-A-Pillow kit with a white pillow cover and Jacquard fabric paint in Golden Rod, White, and Neutral Gray. Here is a sneak peak at what she created:
, one of the crafty mamas behind the blogDon’t these look amazing? We’re glad that you love them as much as we do because now we’re going to show you how to recreate them. Courtney opened her Paint-A-Pillow box and said, ” I was immediately impressed with the attractive packaging and organization of all the tools. It came with a hard cardboard frame that was made so intelligently with metal clips to hold the stencil in place. The pillows came with cardboard inserts already in them and it was set up and ready for paint right out of the box.” She placed her items in her crafting space and was ready to go!
Courtney poured her fabric paint into a foam tray. She wanted a muted yellow so she mixed the Golden Rod paint with a bit of white and neutral gray until she was happy with color. Then she rolled the dense foam roller in the paint. She was careful to not overload the brush because this would cause the paint to bleed under the stencil.
When the pillow was completely painted, Courtney said, “I just lifted the metal tabs to release the stencil and then lifted it away from the pillow. It was perfection!”
Here is her Drifting Arrows painted pillow in yellow.
Courtney didn’t stop with one pillow! She rinsed off the stencil in a sink and began to stencil a second pillow. She painted the second pillow in neutral gray and decided to embellish it with small round studs.
Here is her completed second pillow.
Courtney had this to say about her painted pillows, “This was such a fun project that took less than an afternoon to complete. ”
