Stencil Designs Add Unique Style To A Deck
Welcome back, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Adding a pattern to your deck design can add a splash of style to an otherwise boring project. A project like this is simple especially when using one of our stencil designs. Today we’re sharing a DIY stenciled deck using our Prosperity Mandala Stencil from the NEW Mandala Collection.
We’d like you to welcome back Janna , one of the Cutting Edge Stencils owners and a creative DIYer. Janna and her friend, Cole, decided to put a stylish twist on Janna’s deck. For our visual fans, you’re going to love this stencil tutorial that Janna put together. In this short video, she shows fans how easy it is to stencil a deck using a Mandala stencil.
Let’s walk through the steps for completing this project. The first thing they did was clean off the deck to ensure there was no debris that would get stuck under the stencil or make the paint peel.
After the deck was prepped and ready to go, Janna decided to use one of our new Mandala Stencils for this fun project, the Prosperity Mandala Stencil.
With her gorgeous Mandala pattern in hand she was ready for the fun part, stenciling! Janna chose to use the 74″ quarter medallion for this project. Because this stencil is so big, it needs to be rotated four times to complete the entire pattern. For easy rotation, Janna placed a thumbtack in the center of the medallion. This allowed her to turn the pattern clockwise after each section was painted.
Janna used blue painter’s tape to hold the stencil in place. She painted the pretty pattern in white using a dense foam roller.
She made sure she brushed off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed. Janna made sure she covered the entire design with paint before she rotated the pattern.
Janna continued to paint and then rotate the design until all four sections were painted.
Once the entire design was stenciled, Janna and her friend stepped back to admire the beautiful Prosperity stencil pattern. Are you ready to see how it all turned out? Here is Janna’s stenciled deck.
This magnificent pattern certainly adds character and charm to a once plain deck and we love it!

I have a huge concrete patio. I love the large Mandala stencil.
What is the size of the largest stencil?
Hi Lauren,
The largest Mandala we offer is 74″. Only 3 are available in that size though. The Prosperity, Radiance, Abundance are available in the 74″. The other stencils are available in 44″. I do hope this helps! -Erika
We have a huge concrete “deck” and would love to do something
attractive to it. We thought making a “rug area” might be enough.
I love the Mandala stencil plus many others.
The Mandalas add a great touch to a deck! We have seen so many of our stencils though that any one of them could work!
