Stencil Patterns Can Transform Your Bathroom Into A Stylish Retreat
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! Take your bathroom from outdated to totally up-to-date with this simple stencil project. A stenciled floor can give an old space a unique look and complete a room. Today we’re going to share a bathroom floor that was enhanced with paint and our Augusta Tile Stencil. Come take a look…
We’d like to introduce Kelsey, a creative DIYer and photographer behind the Instagram account theoldfarmhouse_. Kelsey lives in an old school house turned home and she uses clever DIY projects to freshen up the space and maintain its farmhouse appeal. Here is her bathroom before its makeover:
Stenciled floors have become one of the hottest DIY decorating trends. So Kelsey wanted to give it a try. She browsed our large collection of tile stencils and selected our Augusta Tile Stencil. This Portuguese- inspired pattern brings exotic flair to any floor or wall.
Kelsey kicked off her project by cleaning any debris off the floor. Then she primed the existing tile floor. We like STIX primer for a project like this. Kelsey let the primer dry before she painted it with a floor paint in a white hue. She let the base coat of paint dry overnight and then she began stenciling. She used blue painter’s tape to hold her Augusta Tile Stencil pattern in place. Then she painted the tile design in black using a small dense foam roller. After each section was complete, she would un-tape the stencil and reposition so the entire floor would be painted.
If you are recreating this project at home, be sure to roll off any excess paint on a piece of paper towel. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed.
After the stencil was complete, Kelsey applied three coats of a waterbased clear coat to seal in her beautiful design. Are you ready for the big reveal? Here is the gorgeous stenciled floor in her bathroom.
Isn’t it spectacular? We think so! This is an amazing example of how you can give a dated space in your home a fresh new look using a stencil.

Just received my Augusta tile stencil, plan to stencil my ceramic tile kitchen floor. I must have measured the grout line when measuring the tile, which are more like 11 3/4″, so the 12″ stencil is slightly larger and overlaps the grout lines. Haven’t received a call back yet, and suggestions , as I’m anxious to begin this project- thanks
