Cutting Edge Stencils Shares An Otomi Stenciled Entryway
Welcome to Monday, my DIY friends. Cutting Edge Stencils hopes everyone had an awesome weekend. While you were running in and out this past weekend, we’re curious if you had a chance to check out your entryway. Is it a cluttered mess or feeling the winter blues? It doesn’t matter if you choose to call it the foyer, the hall, or the place the kids drop all their sneakers and belongings, the entryway is the first impression your house makes as you walk through the door. If it’s cluttered, grungy, dim, and not fun, it might be clouding your whole mood. We’re going to share with you an easy entryway makeover to provide some inspiration to brighten your space and your mood.
Meet Heather, a creative DIYer behind the blog Someday My Favorite, and admire her entryway makeover featuring one of our new wall stencils. Heather wanted to create an accent wall in her entryway. She spent many late nights searching for the perfect wallpaper to compliment her space. She said, “I was looking for something whimsical, something non-patterny, and something that gave a nod to the nature feel of our home.” Then she decided to consider stenciling. The corner may need a plastic protective piece because it’s a high traffic area and they have two small children. Heather decided that stenciling was much more accommodating to their needs and budget. Here is the beige entryway that Heather started with…
The plain space is pretty yet it didn’t reflect the style of their home. Heather chose our Otomi Allover stencil, it’s a new pattern that we recently added to our stencil collection. The pattern was inspired by traditional Mexican tribal textiles and met Heather’s requirements of ‘whimsical with a nod to nature.’ Here’s a picture of her husband, Kerry, working through the stenciling process. He used painters tape to hold the stencil to the wall. Then he painted the tribal pattern in a light gold from Martha Stewart’s metallic craft paint using a small foam roller. Heather selected the metallic because she,”was hoping for a bit of all day shimmer.”
Are you ready to see the big reveal? Here is Heather’s gorgeous new entryway. We can’t get over how pretty this pattern looks in a shimmery gold. She had this to say about her newly stenciled space, “The coziness factor has grown exponentially.”
Here’s another shot of Heather’s finished project. Did you know this was the couple’s first time stenciling? She said, “Three cheers for a project being fun and way easier than we thought!” We’ll cheer to that!
