The Otomi Allover Stencil Can Brighten A Boring Hallway

Happy Friday, my DIY weekend warriors.  Cutting Edge Stencils is curious, what stencil projects you have planned for this weekend?  Well as you’re busy running your weekend errands, we’d like you to take a look at one of the most neglected spaces in a home.  No silly, it’s not the piles of clothes that are taking over the laundry room.  It’s the hallway.  We run through it so often that we forget to take time to decorate it.  Have no fear because Cutting Edge Stencils has the perfect cure for your boring hallway.  Let’s take a look at an Otomi Allover stenciled hallway makeover that we’re sure will prove that stencils can brighten any dull space.

We’d like to welcome back Angela, a decorating enthusiast and creative DIYer behind the blog Number Fifty Three.   Angela is not a stenciling newbie.  In fact, you might remember her Harlequin Trellis Allover stenciled entryway that she completed not too long ago.

That stenciled entryway is so pretty, right?  Well the good news is that Angela appears to have been bitten by the stenciling bug.  Angela was tired of her boring hallway.  She said, “I wanted something classic to the home, but that would give the space character and personality.”  After having such a positive experience with our stencils the first time around, Angela decided it was the way to go for this project.  Here is the boring hallway that Angela started with…

Angela chose our Otomi Allover stencil, a relatively new pattern that was inspired by traditional Mexican tribal textiles.  She decided to stencil the upper third of her hallway walls because it’s a bold pattern and she didn’t want it to overwhelm the space.  She used painters tape to hold the stencil to the wall and a dense foam roller to paint the tribal pattern.  Angela went with a subtle white on white color combination.  She painted the wall using Benjamin Moore’s Cloud Cover and painted the pattern in Benjamin Moore’s Collingwood.   Angela says, “I think the Collingwood is a nice compliment to our almost white, Cloud Cover walls.” For the lower section of the wall she put up board and batten in a bright white.

Drumroll please, because we’re about to share the big reveal!  Here is Angela’s newly stenciled hallway.

We can’t get over how pretty this pattern looks in these soft white tones.  She had this to say about her newly stenciled space, “I was super pleased with the results.”  Here’s a close-up shot of the stenciled wall.
