Stenciling An Accent Wall In A Laundry Room Using the Herringbone Brick Pattern
Welcome back , my stenciling friends! So tell us, what room did you spend a lot of time in this past weekend? Cutting Edge Stencils thinks it may have been the laundry room. Washing, folding, sorting, there are days where it doesn’t seem to end. The crazy thing about this is that the laundry room tends to be the most neglected space in a home when it comes to decorating. Yikes and yet we spend so much time in it. The good news is that we have a stenciled laundry room makeover that will hopefully inspire you to bring your space to a new stylish level. Let’s take a look…
We’d like you to meet Heather, the creative DIYer behind the blog That Red Headed Sister, and take a look at her stylish laundry room makeover.
Heather had a laundry list of DIY projects which included her laundry room. She said, “This is how the room looked most days with no rhyme or reason. Annoying!” Here is a before shot:
The first thing she did was jump on Polyvore and create a mood board for the space which included our Herringbone Brick Allover pattern. She wanted to use a light gray that she had used in several spots of her home. Here is her inspiration board:
Herringbone Brick Allover // Valspar White for the walls //Behr Sea Salt for the stencil // Cabinets from Habitat for Humanity Restore // Light // Yellow boxes // baskets from Home Goods
Now that Heather had a plan, she was ready to start stenciling. Since she disliked the yellow wall color, the first thing she did was repaint it using Valspar’s White. Then she chose our new Herringbone Brick Allover, a gorgeous faux brick pattern in a trendy zig zag pattern. She painted the pretty pattern in Behr’s Sea Salt. She used blue painters tape to adhere the stencil to the wall. Then she poured her paint into a paper plate and painted with a dense foam roller.
Once the stencil was complete, she put everything back in place and added some stylish accessories. Heather built some chunky wooden shelves that you can see more about here. Ready to see how it all turned out? Here is Heather’s stylish laundry room after its makeover.
She had this to say about her newly stenciled space, “I will admit this, I enjoy my time in there a little more. I don’t enjoy doing laundry anymore than I did before, but at least it is in a pretty room. It is so much brighter and cheerful in there.” Awesome job, Heather! We love the new look.
Here is a close up the pretty stencil and refreshing decor.

Thank you so much for sharing my laundry room! After a few weeks, I still walk by it with a big smile on my face. Who knew changing a room that much could make someone so happy!!
I still don’t like doing laundry though. Do you make a stencil for that?
Hi Heather!
Hahaha, laundry is just one of those (painful) chores that need to get done (unfortunately!)
But your laundry room looks AMAZING! (I’m a bit jealous :p )We could not, not share this great project!
