Paint, Stencils, and Accessories Can Glamorize a Dull Bathroom

Good morning, my DIY bathroom renovators!  Before you whip out that sledge hammer to demo that lackluster bathroom, Cutting Edge Stencils wants you to consider a more simple solution.  Sometimes simple DIY projects can have a major impact on a small space.  Today we’re going to show you how paint, our Drifting Arrows Allover Stencil, and small accessories can easily transform a bathroom from blah to ooh la la.  Come take a look!

We’d like to introduce Lindsey, the clever DIYer behind the blog Better After.  Lindsey is in the midst of redoing the floors in her home.  It’s a huge DIY project that has the majority of her house in complete disarray.  The lack of organization and tidiness has put this structured gal into a tailspin.  She needed a place to escape and decided to put a little effort into her upstairs bathroom. Here is what it looked like before.

The bathroom is pleasant but it lacked the glamorous feeling that Lindsey desired. Since she was already working on a big DIY project, she wanted to keep this update simple.  The easiest way to give a space a mini makeover is with paint, pattern, and accessories.  Her style goal for her master bedroom and bathroom is monochromatic and glamorous.  The walls were already painted in Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams.  Lindsey liked the paint color and decided to add a pattern.  She selected a stencil pattern from our newest stencil designs, the Drifting Arrows Allover Stencil pattern.  This trendy geometric combines a herringbone and arrow design.

Lindsey used blue painter’s tape to help hold the stencil in place and then painted the Drifting Arrow pattern in a soft white hue using a dense foam roller. After she painted one section, she would un-tape the stencil and reposition it to stencil a new section. She did this until the pattern was complete on the wall.

Once the accent wall was stenciled, Lindsey added a chandelier that she picked up at Goodwill for $9, a small table she snatched at Home Goods, and a couple of small DIY projects (you read all about her bathroom DIY efforts on her blog). Ready to see how it all turned out?
