Stencils Easily Update A Kitchen Accent Wall
Good morning, my stenciling friends! Cutting Edge Stencils hopes you a had a refreshing holiday weekend and you’re ready to kick off a new list of DIY projects. We all know that some projects don’t go as well as planned. The best thing to do when a project is flopping, is to walk away and start fresh! Today we’re going to take a look at how one DIYer used wall stencils to turn her DIY flop into something fabulous. Come check it out…
We’d like to introduce Meredith, the creative DIYer behind Arts and Classy. In April, Meredith joined the #30dayflip with Jeanette from Snazzy Little Things. Her goal was to update her rental kitchen with some DIY projects. Unfortunately the ideas didn’t play out the way she planned and she wasn’t in love with her new kitchen. Here is what it looked like after the April challenge:
She said, “The Gold and Chalkboard painted polka dots just didn’t really work. I have been looking at it for the past few weeks thinking… this was a mistake. But thank goodness I could fix it! ” That’s why we prefer painting to wallpaper or wall decals because it allows you to easily change your mind. Meredith browsed our website for inspiration to update her kitchen accent wall. She fell in love with the Roses Allover Stencil pattern.
With her stencil in hand, Meredith was ready to begin her project. She painted the kitchen accent wall using a gray acrylic paint in flat. She used blue painters tape to adhere the stencil to the wall and painted the pretty flower pattern using acrylic white paint in flat.
Meredith used our clip-on stencil level to ensure her stencil was even on the wall. She admits, “This handy clip on level really made a huge difference for me since my ceiling is vaulted. ”
After each section was painted, she would reposition the stencil to paint the next section. She did this until the entire accent wall was painted.
Meredith put together this quick stencil tutorial about her project.
Once the stencil was complete, Meredith hung the same art that she had before but in a slightly different way. She moved the furniture back and her project was complete! Ready to see what her kitchen nook looks like now? Here it is!
Here is another view of her Roses Allover stenciled accent wall. Meredith commented, “I am so in love with this wall now and looking at my kitchen makes me smile because I feel all the decor is working better together. ”
