Learn How To Stencil DIY Accent Pillows In A Snap
Happy Friday, my crafty friends. Cutting Edge Stencils is curious what fun stencil projects you have lined up this weekend? If you’re looking to kick-back, relax and get a little crafty then we have the perfect project for you. Our sister company, Paint-A-Pillow, offers a craft pillow kit that makes creating an accent pillow easy peasy. Let’s take a look at today’s inspirational nature-inspired pillow projects.
We’d also like to welcome back Linda, the crafty DIYer behind the blog It All Started With Paint. Linda painted our Chandelier Stencil in her daughter’s bedroom not too long ago, do you remember?
It’s so pretty and we love working with Linda so it made perfect sense to reach out to her about Paint-A-Pillow. She browsed the large collection of patterns on the site and chose two pillow kits. Linda fell in love with the Anemone Blossom Paint-A-Pillow kit and Birds on a Branch Paint-A-Pillow kit. She selected white pillow covers for both and Jacquard Fabric Paint in Raw Umber and Sapphire Blue. We’re going to give you a quick glimpse of her nature-inspired stenciled accent pillows and then spill the beans on how to recreate it.
Linda was happy to receive her kit in the mail and started crafting as soon as she had it. She poured her Sapphire Blue Jacquard Fabric paint into a foam tray. She chose to paint the bird pattern in the pretty blue hue using a stencil brush. ** If you are painting with more than one color, we always suggest starting with the lighter color first.
Linda was careful to not overload the brush because this would cause the paint to bleed under the stencil. After the bird was painted, she painted the tree limbs in Raw Umber.
When the pillow was completely painted, Linda lifted the metal tabs to release the stencil and reveal the pretty pattern.
But Linda didn’t stop there! She decided to stencil a second accent pillow using the Anemone Blossom Paint-A-Pillow kit. This time she used a dense foam roller (which is included in the kit) to paint the large flower pattern.
And that’s how she did it folks! Here are her stenciled accent pillows.
