Home Decorating Magazine Uses Stencil Patterns For DIY Projects
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! We are happy to share that our amazing stencil designs were featured in not one but TWO home decorating publications. Yup, both Do It Yourself Magazine and House Beautiful have been bitten by the stenciling bug. Come take a look as we rehash all the juicy details of this latest stencil sighting…
What To Do With Drop Cloths- Do It Yourself Magazine
The Fall 2017 issue of Do It Yourself Magazine put a fun twist on using drop cloths to decorate. These sturdy, neutral and inexpensive pieces of fabric can do more than just protect floors. The clever publication shared how to use a drop cloth to dress a home for less! The project that caught our eye in particular was on page 35, Curtain Call. It says, “Can’t find a shower curtain that you love? Make your own design by stenciling a drop cloth.” We love this idea! They simply cut the drop cloth to be more in line with a standard shower curtain then they laid it on a flat surface. Always place a piece of plastic or cardboard under the fabric to catch any paint that might bleed through the cloth. Then place the stencil on top of the drop cloth and secure in place with painter’s tape. Use a dense foam roller to paint the pattern. For this particular project, our Tuscan Trellis Wall Stencil was used. The project is as simple as that! Paint and the geometric stencil give a plain drop cloth a whole new sophisticated look!
Big Ideas for Tight Spot- House Beautiful
We were super excited to open the June 2017 issue of House Beautiful Magazine and spot our Shipibo Stencil on this pretty kitchen floor. To recap this project, Jessica Davis from Nest Studio ripped out the old flooring in her home and replaced it with plywood. She painted it in Sherwin Williams’ Anew Grey and stenciled our Shipibo Wall Stencil onto the floor in Benjamin Moore‘s China White. You can catch the whole makeover in this blog post. We love her creativity and stylish decorating!
