Stencil Patterns Add Style To A Bathroom Makeover
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! When it comes to making your house feel like a home, a wall stencil can be the perfect DIY project. Stencil designs are an easy and inexpensive way to add style and personality to your home. Today we are sharing a stenciled bathroom makeover featuring the Coral Allover Stencil. Let’s take a look…
We’d like to introduce Emy, the self-proclaimed DIY decorating addict behind the blog Semigloss Design. She was one of the participating bloggers for the One Room Challenge (ORC). The ORC was designed by Linda from Calling it Home and its purpose is to have DIY bloggers put their creativity, perseverance and patience to test by completing a room makeover in six short weeks.
Two years ago, Emy and her husband bought a house in Maryland. Since then she’s been completing one DIY project at a time to make her house into the perfect home. On that list of projects was her bathroom. Here is what her bathroom looked like before the makeover.
The space was lackluster and Emy wanted to infuse it with her personality. She put together a design board and it was inspired by the lovely kitsch of Camp Wandawega and the colors from the movie, Moonrise Kingdom. Emy completed several DIY projects in this one room makeover and you can read all about them on her blog but we are going to focus on the stenciling!
Emy also embraced the idea of adding a wall pattern. Stenciling a wall design allows you to achieve a wallpaper like look for a fraction of the cost. Emy browsed our large collection of nautical stencils and fell in love with the Coral Allover Stencil. She said, “A bold patterned shower curtain obviously needs more pattern on the walls. I plan to use this coral stencil, but in a subtle tone on tone way. I know I live 4 hours from the beach, but coral is so pretty. It’s almost branch-like.”
The first thing she did was give her bathroom a fresh coat of paint using Benjamin Moore Wickham Gray. With her beach decor stencil in hand, she was ready to start stenciling! Emy placed her Coral Allover Stencil on her bathroom wall. She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place on the wall. Then she poured her paint into a small tray and painted with a dense foam roller. Emy painted the coral wall pattern using soft white paint similar to Benjamin Moore’s Simply White.
Once the stencil was complete, Emy revealed her beautiful new bathroom. Ready to see how her stenciled space turned out?
Here is a close-up of the pretty wall stencil pattern. Emy commented, “The stenciled walls provide such a happy backdrop for all of the other elements.”
