Mandala Stencil Designs Make Crafting A Dream Catcher Easy & Fun
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends. Get ready to filter out those bad dreams and sleep more soundly because we have put a stenciled spin on the oh-so-popular dream catcher. We certainly love the delicate, boho style of a dream catcher and our Mandala stencil patterns make crafting one easy and fun. Today we are excited to share a DIY dream catcher project using the Prosperity Mandala Stencil that is sure to inspire. Come take a look…
We’d like to introduce Erlene, the creative craft queen behind the blog Pinterventures. There’s no question why we follow her. If you crave easy and fun DIY projects, recipes, and family fun then Erlene’s blog is your dream come true! Erlene loves dream catchers and has already provided some great tutorials for crafting very pretty dream catchers. When she spotted our new line of Mandala Stencils her DIY wheels started spinning and she felt these new designs were perfect for hand-crafting a dream catcher. Erlene had browsed our new Mandala Stencil collection and fell in love with the Prosperity Mandala Pattern.
Erlene provides a list of materials and a complete dream catcher tutorial on her blog so we’re going to skip to the fun part stenciling! She decided to stencil drop cloth material that would later be placed into a 23 inch embroidery hoop. She positioned the Mandala stencil pattern on the top of the canvas drop cloth. Then she painted the pattern using white acrylic craft paint.
If you’re trying to recreate this, pour your paint onto a plate or paint tray. Dip your dense foam roller or stencil brush into the paint. Roll or brush off the excess paint onto your folded paper towel until the roller/brush looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge. Painter’s tape can help hold the stencil in place.
Erlene finished painting the stenciled Mandala design and attached the drop cloth to the embroidery hoop. She then enhanced this project with some stenciled feathers using our 6 piece Feathers Stencil Kit. Are you ready to see how it turned out? Here is her Prosperity Mandala stenciled dream catcher! Erlene commented, “Here it is hanging in my oldest daughter’s room. It goes perfect with the rest of her decor and I plan on creating a colored version for her younger sister too!”
