Melissa from The Happier Homemaker used DIY stencils from Cutting Edge Stencils to give her bedroom a stenciled accent wall makeover! She decided to go with a tone on tone look, which is beautifully subtle and classic. Believe it or not, this was Melissa’s first time using stencils! Based on how stunning her results are, you never would guess that she was a beginner. It really is true – anyone who wants to use stencils, CAN use stencils!
Throughout the process of completing her stenciled accent wall and turning her bedroom decorating ideas into a reality, Melissa learned some tips and tricks. She highly recommends Cutting Edge Stencils’ clip-on stencil level for allover designs, like the Turkish Tulip Allover stencil that she used for her accent wall. It’s very helpful in making sure that your stenciled accent wall comes out even and clean! Also, a dense foam roller and a stencil brush are wonderful tools that make it very easy to achieve gorgeous results.
Melissa also took advantage of all of the stenciling information that we have available on our website, including our how-to-stencil tutorial videos. While stenciling doesn’t come out exactly perfect, you really won’t be able to notice any minor mistakes once you are all finished! Melissa admitted that she was especially concerned about this during her project, but was so pleased with the end result and actually prefers the variation that the paint quality provides over the flatness of wallpaper.
