Easy DIY Accent Pillows In A Snap
Welcome back, my craft friends. Cutting Edge Stencils is curious if you’re ready for a fresh start in 2015? A new year, a new you, and maybe some new accent pillows! The easiest way to freshen your decor is with DIY accent pillows. We’d like to welcome back our sister company, Paint-A-Pillow. It’s an innovative stenciling kit that will allow you to create your own designer accent pillows in a snap. Let’s take a look at today’s inspirational arrow themed pillow project.
We’d also like to welcome back Kristi and Kelli, the DIY stencil queens behind the blog Lolly Jane. The gals have completed several stencil projects using Cutting Edge Stencils. Remember this super popular Herringbone Stenciled bookcase?
How about this eye-catching mustard yellow stenciled dining room?
And we can’t forget about this adorable stenciled sign.
Needless to say when we offered them the chance to try Paint-A-Pillow, they jumped at it. Kristi and Kelli ordered the Archery Paint-A-Pillow kit with white pillow covers and Jacquard Paint in golden rod. Here is a quick glimpse of their gorgeous stenciled accent pillow. Don’t worry, we’ll get to the details.
The girls were excited to receive the kit in the mail “We love this kit because it came pre-assembled and ready to use so we were able to avoid digging around in our meager fabric paint stash or looking for the necessary paint supplies. We could simply open up the box and cross a project off our “to create” list lickity split. Bam.”
Kristi and Kelli read through the instructions that were included in the kit. For this project, they chose to paint the arrow pattern using a yellow hue called Golden Rod and a dense foam roller.
** If you’re recreating this at home, be careful not to overload the roller with paint. Roll off the excess paint onto a folded paper towel until the roller looks almost dry. The key to stenciling is using as little paint as possible. Too much paint will cause the design to bleed and smudge.
Once the entire pillow cover was painted, they peeled back the metal tabs holding the stencil in place and cleaned off the stencil in the sink. When the pillow cover was dry, Kristi and Kelli stuffed the pillow inserts inside. Here is another look at their trendy arrow accent pillows.
