Harmony Damask Stenciled Curtains Spotted in Budget Decorating Magazine
Welcome back, my creative DIY friends! Do you have a bit of the Monday blues? Well, we here at Cutting Edge Stencils certainly don’t! Our Monday is looking positively splendid and do you know why? Because we spotted another one of our fabulous stencil patterns in Decorating Shortcuts Magazine. Here’s a peek at the article, Freshened Farmhouse on page 46, but more importantly, we can’t wait to give you the 411 on the project!
Harmony Damask Stenciled Curtain
We’d like you to meet Yvonne, the home decorator and lifestyle blogger behind Stone Gable. Yvonne and her husband are empty nesters and embarked on the project to give their farmhouse style home a facelift. The magazine takes a stroll through the couples updated farmhouse and shares with its readers how they used budget friendly DIY projects to give their dated farmhouse its fresh-faced look.
One of the DIY items on their makeover list included new curtains in the family room. Yvonne explains that they had a simple set of curtains made of Belgium linen from Restoration Hardware. Replacing them was out of the question but they felt very blah in her neutral family room. She said, “Because they were staying, I thought painting a bold pattern on them would give them the umph they needed to bring a shot of interest to my room!” Here is what they looked like before:
Yvonne purchased the Harmony Damask stencil, a classic damask pattern, and decided to stencil it using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White. She placed a plastic tarp under her work space to catch any paint that might seep through the curtain panel. Then she adhered the stencil to the fabric using painter’s tape and used a dense foam roller to paint on the pattern. Her step by step tutorial can be found on her blog.
Once the painted curtains were dry, she hung them in the family room. Yvonne mentions that she was quite pleased with her stenciled curtains. She says, ” I love paint! It’s DIY magic and with it you can transform so many things.” Now let’s take a look at her newly stenciled curtains.

I have that magazine and remember seeing that and commenting on the curtains. I got so much inspiration from that magazine. More about stenciling. Just today one of bloggers showed a dresser she had stenciled and it was gorgeous, she said she thought stenciling was over but now knows it’s not and will do more of it. Happy week
Thanks for your comment JaneEllen…….
