Stencils Can Revitalize An Old Carpet With Pattern
Good morning, my DIY friends! Cutting Edge Stencils has an awesome DIY project that is sure to spark your creativity today. First we want you to tell us if your carpeting is looking tired and dated. If the answer is, “yes but I can’t afford to change it right now” then have no fear. We are hear to help! Oh no we’re not helping you tear up that bad boy. We want you to consider painting it with a pretty stencil pattern. It’s easy, affordable and will totally change the way your old carpet looks. Come take a look at a dazzling music room makeover that features an allover pattern in a bold hue painted in an unexpected place.
We’d like you to meet Sarah, the awesome DIY blogger behind Sarah’s Big Idea. Sarah and her husband had a extra space on the third floor of their home that they were using as a music room. This is what it looked like before:
It certainly doesn’t leave us green with envy and we’re willing to bet that Sarah felt the same way. Sarah and her husband decided to give the space a makeover to better fit their passion for rock-n-roll. Unfortunately this makeover project had a super small budget so it’s a good thing that Sarah is clever and crafty. The first thing she did was paint an accent wall in a deep, dark blue.
Next on the project list was the carpeting. Since ripping up the carpet wasn’t an option, Sarah wanted to enhance what was currently there. Sarah fell in love with our Antico Allover Stencil pattern. She said, “I picked this one for its rock-and-roll attitude, but it turned out to be a great choice for carpet stenciling.” She used painter’s tape to hold the stencil in place and she painted the pattern in a dark navy hue.
After the stencil was complete, Sarah took a step back to admire her handiwork. Ready to see how it all turned out? Here is the stenciled carpet.
Sarah had this to say about her music room makeover, ” It looks BALLER.”
Oh and we can’t leave out the before and after to show what a difference the stencil makes.
Imagine how her tootsies feel every time she walks across this gorgeous floor!
Tell us what you think of this stenciled carpet makeover and would you consider stenciling a carpet. Leave us your thoughts in the comments below!

It looks really great! Makes the room look larger. What kind of paint did Sarah use?
Hi Andrea, We believe she used the same blue paint that she used on her accent wall.
Looks fantastic! I am going to do this! My question was also, what kind of paint did she use? You think wall paint? I would have thought a fabric paint for a softer finish. If we can know it would be so helpful! Thanks. Linda
Hi Linda,
She did use regular house paint, but there is more to it! Here is the link to Sarah’s project: http://www.sarahsbigidea.com/2014/11/magic-carpet-ride/ she goes into detail on how she approached the project. Do hope this helps! And please do share your project :) We would love to see it!
