HGTV Magazine Uses Stencil Patterns For Easy Decorating Projects
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! We were pretty excited to spot one of our stencil designs in the latest issue of HGTV Magazine. The June 2017 issue uses a chinoiserie inspired stencil pattern to glamify an old dresser that is past its prime. Come take a look as we rehash all the juicy details of this latest stencil sighting…
PaintOvers Using A Stencil
The popular home decorating publication shares a fun way to transform old furniture that is past its prime into a stylish piece using paint. On page 82, the creative publication took an old beat-up wooden dresser. They recommend removing the drawers from the dresser. Then unscrew the old hardware and fill in the holes with wood filler. The entire dresser was painted white using Behr’s Bit of Sugar. Once it was dry, the drawers were placed into the dresser. Now you are ready for the fun part which is stenciling! For this project, the Secret Garden Toile Stencils was chosen. It’s a beautiful pattern that replicates an oriental chinoiserie design. You can use blue painter’s tape or spray adhesive to hold the design onto the front of the dresser. Then paint the pretty pattern using Martha Stewart Craft paint in Greek Tile. Attach new drawer pulls that work with the painted design. The project is as simple as that! Paint and the chinoiserie stencil give a dated dresser a whole new sophisticated look!
