Stencils Add Bold Style To A Garage Floor
Good morning, my Cutting Edge Stencils friends! We want to chat about your garage today. Be honest, when was the last time you thought about how your garage looks and how well it complements your home? It’s often a neglected space and rarely thought of as stylish. Well that’s going to change because hopefully you’re inspired by today’s garage overhaul complete with a stenciled floor! Let’s take a look…
We’d like you to meet McKenna, the DIY decorating enthusiast behind the blog Two Little Limes, and take a look at her amazing garage floor overhaul.
McKenna signed up to participate in a project called the One Room Challenge which was designed by Linda from Calling it Home. The purpose of the fun challenge was to have DIY bloggers put their creativity, perseverance and patience to test by completing a room makeover in six short weeks. McKenna’s goal was to overhaul her garage. She wanted to complete DIY projects that would make this space organized, functional and stylish. Here is the room she started with…
Unorganized and lacking style! McKenna had quite a project ahead. She had always dreamed of making that specific corner into a pantry nook and now was her chance to make her dreams come true. McKenna started browsing Pinterest for a color scheme. She had a mint green Smeg the she used to hold additional beverages in the garage. She loved the minty green hue and created a coordinating color scheme based on that item. Once she had a color scheme in mind, she was ready to kick off her garage project. She painted everything in Benjamin Moore Misty Gray because it reads white and clean, but without being quite so clinical. Then she chose our Fishscale Allover Stencil, a lovely geometric inspired pattern.
She painted the pretty pattern in Benjamin Moore Floor & Patio Low Sheen latex enamel in Black. She used blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place on the floor. Then she poured her paint into a small tray and painted with a dense foam roller.
Once the stencil was complete, McKenna completed the pantry nook in her garage with several DIY projects. She added a yellow pendant light, rustic pantry shelving, and some pantry essentials. You can read about the details of her One Room Challenge on her blog. Ready to see more of McKenna’s stenciled garage floor after its makeover?
She had this to say about her stencil project, “To say I am beyond thrilled with how it turned out is the understatement of the year.”
We’re going to have to agree because this garage floor is gorgeous! Here is a close up of the eye-catching stencil pattern.

This is a great look. What a transformation. I think the fishscale stencil has many other possibilities. I’ve been considering painting my computer room, concrete slab under existing carpet, but hadn’t seen a pattern I adored. The black and white is dramatic, but this would also look fab in tone on tone. Excited now.
Back to reading details and Pinning this!

I’d like to know if a sealant/top coat was used. And/or what y’all would recommend for a floor that would get lots of use and wear. Thanks much, Rosie
